Those who visit Pornhub and identify any sexually explicit media that is distributed without the consent of the individuals involved can now visit http://www.pornhub.com/content-removal and fill out the form found there to request the removal of nonconsensual material. The specified media will be reviewed and taken down. Unlike other popular websites, no government identification is required throughout the request process, allowing anyone, anywhere to report and further prohibit it from happening. While Pornhub has always taken down videos per request, the new concentrated process is a preemptive strike against the increase in revenge porn across the digital and social media landscapes.
“The Pornhub Network has always stated that nonconsensual videos violate our policy and because of this firm stance, over the past two years our site has seen a 38% drop in revenge porn take down requests. Now that we have announced a new, concentrated process, with an official submission page, we expect that percentage to only increase,” said Price. “While Pornhub does its own policing of revenge porn, this will encourage our users to not be deterred behind fears of red tape, and reaffirms that we will do everything within our power to make sure the purveyors of this form of sexual assault will never have a place within our network.”
