NEW YORK (December 4, 2023) – Richardson Magazine announces A11:The Agency Issue, presented by Pornhub. Releasing on December 11th, 2023, the cover features porn superstar Rae Lil Black photographed by David Sims. Selections from the issue include: an interview with porn super agent Mark Spiegler, founder of the infamous Spiegler Girls; a selection of work by renowned artist Hajime Sorayama; the Tokyo underground BDSM scene photographed by Rosie Marks; “Parrots in the Mist,” a conversation with the former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss; and an exclusive conversation between artists Jordan Wolfson and Paul McCarthy about Wolfson’s new work ‘Body Sculpture’ and everything being an attempt. The issue explores the concept of agency, from its most subtle to controversial forms with essays by: Red Scare’s Anna Khachiyan; actress Julia Fox; filmmaker Bruce LaBruce; activist Samirah Raheem; and Pornhub ambassador Queenie Sateen; alongside artwork by Jessi Reaves, Guido Crepax, Frances Stark, Ataru Sato, and Bosco Takasaki.

“Pornhub is very pleased to support the publication of A11. Agency, this issue’s theme, is also a value that Pornhub holds dear,” said Alex Kekesi, Head of Brand and Community at Pornhub. We’re proud to offer a safe and inclusive platform for sex workers to monetize their content, and to support important cultural and artistic endeavors that help drive conversations about and attention to key issues impacting our community.”

In her cover feature photographed by David Sims, Rae Lil Black discusses her journey as former law student to an amateur porn star, after her first video received 12 million views nearly overnight, with a special supplemental conversation with fellow Black metal enthusiast, artist Bjarne Melgaard. An interview with Mark Spiegler does a deep dive behind the scenes of porn’s most sought after talent agency, Spiegler Girls. A conversation between artists Jordan Wolfson and Paul McCarthy highlights the release of Wolfson’s newest piece Body Sculpture, with images by David Sims. A survey of the Japanese adult industry reveals the contrasting erotic philosophies of Japan and the US, as told by Japanese pornographers: ”Americans are like the sun, but the Japanese are like the moon.” A feature on Japanese manga artist, Bosco Takasaki, explores the homoerotic universe of Boys’ Love, an erotic genre of male on-male love catered to female audiences. Photographer Rosie Marks documents the underground world of the Tokyo BDSM scene. Marks’ photographs are also featured alongside an interview with former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fliess, at her home and bird rescue in Pahrump, Nevada. Podcaster Anna Khachiyan’s essay discusses the pitfalls of #MeToo. Julia Fox recounts her origin story working as a dominatrix at a dungeon in New York City. Other essay selections include: psychoanalyst Avgi Saketopoulou on the limits of consent; Samirah Raheem on the controversial Zeus Network; filmmaker Bruce LaBruce on the queer politics of topping from the bottom; and musician-turned-porn star Queenie Sateen on her rise from underground queer icon to pornstar and newest Pornhub ambassador.

“Sex-forward content can present a challenge to publishing in our increasingly conservative climate. It is a pleasure to work with Pornhub again for the A11 issue with Rae Lil Black,” said Andrew Richardson. “They have been supporting Richardson Magazine since A9, our issue with Kim Kardashian.”

Richardson Magazine began in 1998, and since then the fine radical publication has highlighted the intersection of sex, art and culture with the intent to inform and provoke. The magazine is curated by Andrew Richardson and editor Esra Soraya Padgett, with art direction by Jamie Reid.

A11’s release marks the 25 year anniversary of Richardson Magazine.
